COLUMBIA, Ky. — The #3 Lady Tigers visited the (RV) Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders on Saturday. The Lady Tigers took another Battle of Highway 55 victory this season, and their 16th in a row, 73-46.
In the opening minutes of the game, Campbellsville wasted no time in asserting control on the court, knocking down the first two baskets of the day and earning an early lead. Lindsey Wilson only landed their first basket in retaliation three minutes into the first quarter. The Lady Tigers reached double digits on the scoreboard halfway through the first ten minutes of play, while the Blue Raiders struggled to match Campbellsville's offensive pace. The game came to a low action period, with neither team connecting in second-chance opportunities at the basket. With less than five minutes left in the first quarter, Campbellsville reached a ten-point advantage over Lindsey Wilson. At the end of the first period, the Lady Tigers led 16-6.
Maddy Boyle opened the second quarter with a smooth jumper, continuing to extend Campbellsville's advantage. The Blue Raiders launched relentless offensive attempts to counteract the Lady Tigers' lead, but
Whitney Hay's layups preserved Campbellsville's momentum. Much to Lindsey Wilson's demise, Boyle landed one three-pointer after another, preventing the Blue Raiders from narrowing the burgeoning gap between the two squads. After the first half, the Lady Tigers kept control over the lead, 32-19.
In the beginning moments of the second half, Pedigo and Boyle ignited the offense with cuts to the basket. The Lady Tigers capitalized on several trips to the charity stripe, propelling Campbellsville upward on the scoreboard. Halfway through the third quarter, Campbellsville reached a 20-point upper hand over Lindsey Wilson. At this point in the match, the Blue Raiders elevated their defensive efforts to stifle the Lady Tigers, rebounding the ball play after play. However, Campbellsville refused to buckle under the defensive pressure on the court, collecting steal after steal and agilely maneuvering the ball all the way to the basket. Going into the last quarter, the Lady Tigers kept a stronghold on the advantage, 54-29.
Coming into the last quarter, Campbellsville refused to ease their grip on the contest, battling Lindsey Wilson with unwavering defensive plays to protect their advantage. Hay and
Kayla Luebbe soared past the Blue Raiders and straight to the rim with graceful layups for the Lady Tigers. Lindsey Wilson retaliated from the free-throw line, but
Sarah Sutton and
Courtney Pritchett's attacks from beyond the arc aided Campbellsville's firm control of the game. At the end of the game, the Lady Tigers took the victory, 73-46.
Throughout Saturday's Battle of Highway 55, Campbellsville's varied rotation proved superior than that of Lindsey Wilson, collecting 29 bench points to their six. Additionally, the Lady Tigers strongly capitalized off avid rebounds and the Blue Raiders' turnovers, racking up 19 second-chance points to their eight and 12 points off turnovers to their two.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action traveling to McKenzie, Tennessee to battle the Bethel University Wildcats on Thursday, February 15th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.
