Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Lady Tigers continued their three-day campaign in Columbus, Georgia, to partake in the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tigers took on Lawrence Tech University and the College of Coastal Georgia. In game one against Lawrence Tech, the Lady Tigers continued their success, winning 13-9. In the following game against Coastal Georgia, Campbellsville suffered their first season loss, falling 5-2.

GAME ONE: Campbellsville 13, Lawrence Tech 9

Courtney Patterson opened in the circle for the Lady Tigers to begin the first inning. With Lawrence Tech's first at-bat reaching base on a hit through the infield, Kaeleigh Tuck and Camille Conkright worked together to make the attempted steal unsuccessful. Another hit for the Blue Devils put a runner in scoring position. Lawrence Tech sent their first run across the plate before the final out was recorded.

In the bottom half of the first, Jesse Daniels started for the Lady Tigers, reaching base on an infield error. Emily Reynolds, followed by Lindsey Mitchell, had hits of their own and sent Daniels across the plate. With Reynolds and Mitchell on base, Taylor Windell sent a pitch to the right-center fence to score both and land a triple. Morgan Carter continued to rally for the Lady Tigers with an RBI to right field, scoring Windell. Keely Bowling and Tuck reached with a hit and a fielder's choice, leaving runners on the corners for Conkright. With a double of her own, Conkright hit through the infield to score Carter and advance Tuck into scoring position. After returning to the top of the lineup, Daniels added an RBI next to her name, scoring Conkright. Before the conclusion of the first inning, the Lady Tigers took a six-run lead over the Blue Devils, 7-1.

An outfield error caused Lawrence Tech to start the second inning with an in-the-park homerun. The Blue Devils followed that with a pitch sent over the left-field fence for back-to-back homeruns. Before a pitching change came for the Lady Tigers, the Blue Devils sent one more run across the plate. With Ellie Coley now in the circle, the final out was recorded before the Blue Devil could cut further into the Lady Tigers' lead. Caroline Pitcock and Mitchell reached via walk to begin the bottom half of the second. Carter followed with an RBI to score Pitcock, and Bowling reached on a fielder's choice. Before the final out was made, an error from the Blue Devils sent Mitchell across the plate. The Lady Tigers continued to lead over Lawrence Tech, 9-4.

With one out in the top of the third, the Lady Tigers worked together, hitting cut-offs and getting the Blue Devils' runner out at third after a pitch was sent to the fence. Coley retired the top half of the inning with just eight pitches. Conkright earned the leadoff walk, and Daniels sent her across the plate with a two-run homerun, her first as a Lady Tiger. With Mitchell on base, Windell earns a double off a hit to centerfield. An infield error allowed Carter to reach base and score Mitchell, giving the Lady Tigers a 12-4 lead over the Blue Devils.

The Lady Tigers allowed two more runs to make it across the plate before the final out was recorded in the top of the fourth inning. Tuck, Conkright, and Daniels were awarded free bases, all reaching base after being walked and leaving the bases loaded for Reynolds. Reynolds answered with an RBI, scoring Tuck. Pitcock reached on the fourth walk of the inning, loading the bases yet again. Mitchell reached base with a fielder's choice but was left stranded to go into the fifth inning of play. 13-6

To begin the top of the fifth, the Blue Devils added two more hits to their side of the scoreboard and sent just one run across the plate. As the Lady Tigers headed into the bottom half of the inning, they continued to lead over the Blue Devils 13-7. The bottom of the fifth inning of play was quick for the Lady Tigers, being put away in three up, three down fashion.

With two outs and a runner on third base, Coley earned the final out of the top of the sixth with a strikeout. Conkright reached base on a fielding error but was put away in a double play to head into the seventh.

The Blue Devils sent two more runs across the plate before Katy Chadwell took over in the circle to begin the seventh inning. An over-throw to first base sent another around the bases, leaving one in scoring position. With two strikeouts in a row for Chadwell, the Lady Tigers ended the game victoriously, 13-9.

GAME TWO: Campbellsville 2, Coastal Georgia 5

A first pitch hit from Daniels started the game for the Lady Tigers. A sacrifice bunt from Reynolds moved Daniels into scoring position at second but was left stranded to move into the bottom half of the first inning. Chadwell started in the circle to open the offensive side for Campbellsville. A quick three up, three down for the Lady Tigers retired the first inning.

Windell sent the first pitch to the gap to reach base and begin the second inning. With a fielder's choice, Bowling reached base, and Windell advanced to second on a throwing error. An infield error helped Conkright load the bases for the Lady Tigers. All three Lady Tigers were left stranded with a caught outfield fly to go to the bottom half of the second. Another quick inning for the Lady Tigers retired four Mariner batters to head into the top of the third.

Campbellsville was put away in another three up, three down inning. The Mariners continued their success through the bottom half of the inning, loading the bases and sending a pitch to the fence to score all three before the final out was made.

The Lady Tigers had a three-run deficit as they moved into the fourth inning. Carter singled to centerfield, followed by Bowling reaching on fielder's choice. With the final out of the inning, Bowling was left stranded on base. A hit and a couple errors from the Lady Tigers allow the Mariners to add two more runs to the scoreboard, extending their lead to five runs to end the fourth.

After a discussion between the umpires, Daniels reaches bases to be the first Lady Tiger to reach base in the fifth inning. Pitcock found herself on second after an infield error, sending Daniels across the plate. Pitcock was left stranded to move into the bottom of the fifth. One Mariner reached base but was left stranded when the final out of the inning was recorded.

The top of the sixth inning quickly moved to the bottom of the sixth with another three up, three down on the Lady Tigers. With two outs, the Mariner sent a pitch to right field to leave one runner on base. In an attempt to steal second, the Lady Tigers threw down to second to make the final out of the sixth inning.

In the top of the seventh, Tuck hit a grounder through the short-stop to reach base and advanced to second with the help of Conkright. Daniels sent a pitch through the infield, good enough for a double and scoring Conkright. Reynolds followed with a single to shallow centerfield, moving Daniels to second base. With the help of Pitcock, Daniels and Reynolds moved into scoring position. Unfortunately, the final out was made before the Lady Tigers could send any more runs across the plate, falling to the Mariners 5-2.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action for tomorrow's third and final day of the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia. Their game is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. ET.
