CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers hosted the Shawnee State Bears for the first home game of the 2024 season Wednesday night. After a slight delay to the proceedings, Campbellsville started slowly but then closed their home debut with a victory, 3-0.
In the opening minutes of the first half,
Makwe Nkoana and
Jarred Hendricks both attempted shots in Campbellsville's favor, unable to put the Tigers on the scoreboard. Campbellsville struggled to strengthen their teamplay at midfield.
Jamie Bird collected three corner kicks, yet the Tigers were still unable to translate them to goals.
After halftime,
Jarred Hendricks did not falter at the opportunity to strike at Shawnee State, successfully scoring the first goal of the game at the 64' mark. The Tigers' momentum only strengthened, as
Harry Freeman scored another goal for Campbellsville assisted by
Ollie Jagroop.
Malte Ekman set up Hendricks in scoring the third goal of the match, as Campbellsville held the Bears to nil.
The Tigers will be back in action hosting the Alice Lloyd College Eagles on Monday, August 26th beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
