OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Campbellsville Tigers headed to Oakland City University to face off against the Mighty Oaks in the sweltering heat, falling 2-1.
The Tigers fought to own the field and create a connection to breathe through the defense. The freshman Jarred Hendrick scored his third collegiate career goal, giving the Campbellsville Tigers a lead on the scoreboard. With a battle between these two teams to gain possession and advance across the field, Pablo Herrera from Oakland City made a goal with a corner kick to tie the match.
At halftime, both teams maintained a cohesive defense. The Tigers made an offensive play on the field, striving to shoot another goal to secure the win. The game was wide open with a tied score; however, the Oakland City Mighty Oaks moved up in the contest, scoring their second goal in the minute 77th, by Evan Reape.
With time remaining on the clock, Campbellsville fought a physical battle against Oakland City. It was an even match, but not enough for the Tigers to surpass the scoreboard. Campbellsville fell to the Might Oaks, 2-1.
The Campbellsville Tigers will return to action on Monday, September 2nd, at Finley Stadium in Campbellsville, Kentucky. The Tigers will face Columbia International with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
