UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. - The Tigers traveled to Illinois to face off against the Governors State Jaguars. In a well-defended game, Campbellsville came out victorious, in part because Jarred Hendricks scored the one and only goal of the game in the 85th minute of play.
It took only a short time for the Tigers and Jaguars to have shots at the goal. Goalie Malthe Schou grabbed a save from a Governors State shot. Gustav Oskarsson followed with a shot on goal but was saved by the Jaguars' goalie. Both teams' defenses played steadfastly, not allowing points throughout the whole first half.
The Tigers and Schou were in for a hard-fought defensive game. Though Campbellsville and Governors State were back and forth with shot attempts, the Tigers were tenacious. In the 85th minute of the game, Hendricks scored a goal for the Tigers. With five minutes left, Campbellsville sealed their all-around defensive game with a blocked shot, grabbing the 1-0 victory over the Jaguars.
The Tigers will return to action on September 12th, traveling to Indiana to play Calumet College of St. Joseph, but the game's time is to be announced.
