GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Campbellsville Tigers traveled to Georgetown, Kentucky to take on the rival Georgetown Tigers for Campbellsville's second Mid-South Conference matchup of the season. The Tigers' offensive pressure clinched the sweep for the Tigers' first conference win of 2024.
Opening the first set, the Tigers were on the hunt as Jana Krstic set the tone for the match with a kill assisted by Molly Shannon. Errors from Georgetown, and the Tigers' Emily Aabye and Brooke Hager, allowed Campbellsville to jump out to a quick 11-3 run. Though the rival Tigers tried to claw their way back, Campbellsville's offensive pressure was too much and the Tigers took set one, 25-16.
Though Georgetown grabbed the first point of the second set, the Tigers were undaunted and started the second set on a 15-2 run. Erica Rosario Calderon and Libby Erwin kept up the offensive onslaught as they racked up kills against the rival Tigers. Hager ended the second set with a kill assisted by Krstic, awarding the Tigers set two, 25-13.
Much like the first and second set, the Tigers came out blazing and left no path for Georgetown to steal a set. The Tigers finished the game with a block from Aabye and a kill from Hager to seal the third and final set, 25-11.
Campbellsville will be back in action Thursday, September 19th, at Gosser Gymnasium to take on University of the Cumberlands Patriots. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
