CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Tigers hosted the West Virginia University Institute of Technology Golden Bears on Monday night. Despite Campbellsville's efforts to catch up with WVU Tech's lead, the Golden Bears took the victory, 2-1.
The Golden Bears scored the first goal of the game at the 16-minute mark of play. Nicolo Lanari, Jarred Hendricks, and Harry Freeman attempted shot after shot to put the Tigers on the scoreboard but were unsuccessful in their attempts at the goal. At the half, Campbellsville trailed WVU Tech, 1-0.
In the opening of the second half, Malte Ekman took a shot at the goal, earning the Tigers a corner kick. Jamie Bird, with the opportunity, crossed the ball into the box, and after a deflection, Mihlali Blesi scored Campbellsville's first goal of the contest. The Golden Bears broke the tie and reclaimed the lead with another goal.
The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, September 25th, taking the road to Midway, Kentucky, to battle the Midway University Eagles beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.
- Campbellsville outperformed WVU Tech in a couple of statistical categories: shots (13-9) and corners (6-4).
- Hendricks led the Tigers with six shots and two shots on goal; Malte Schou collected three saves throughout the match.
- Campbellsville had not lost a game against WVU Tech since 2009; since then, the Golden Bears had only scored two goals against the Tigers until tonight.
