COLUMBIA, Ky. – The #3 Lady Tigers, following their Mid-South Conference, overtime showdown with the #7 University of the Cumberlands a few days prior, headed down Highway 55 through snow to take on the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders. Campbellsville's depth shined with Dea Bradley leading the team off the pine, 82-61.
After a war with Cumberlands, Campbellsville's offense came out sluggish, just hitting one of their first six shots. The Lady Tigers found their footing once Bradley and Hallie Allen stepped in, both knocking down consecutive deep balls. Bradley netted another three soon after. Down 6-5 early, Campbellsville rattled off ten straight in just over two minutes. The Lady Tigers also turned their defensive intensity up, forcing seven turnovers in the opening period.
Up 19-12 as the second quarter began, Campbellsville committed to their defensive fortitude. Lindsey Wilson didn't convert a shot attempt until 2:39 left in the first half. However, the Lady Tigers' intensity bit back at them, sending the Blue Raiders to the free-throw line eight times where they converted six. Bradley and Paige Serafini continued the team's success from distance, though Campbellsville's overall shooting percentage slipped in comparison to the opening period (from 44% down to 36%). At halftime, the teams had each scored 12 so the Lady Tigers sustained their seven-point advantage, 31-24.
The second half, Campbellsville turned their focus to more efficient, offensive basketball, nearly totaling their first half scoring in the ten-minute quarter: 31 in half one and 27 in the third alone. That was due to Bree Gowdy coming alive from all over the floor, going three of four from the field (including hitting both three-point tries) and two of two from the charity stripe for ten total points in the period. Meanwhile, although the Blue Raiders recorded their highest quarter-scoring output of the game, the Lady Tigers simply outpaced them.
In the final minutes, it was Maddie Nalley who couldn't miss. In the fourth, she went perfect from the field (three of three) and missed just a single free throw, connecting on three. Her efficiency proved infectious as the whole team shot 64% from the floor to close things out. Campbellsville's depth simply proved too much for the shallower Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders and they emerged victorious, 82-61.
