Crewe-Brown places top three in two events, Tigers battle through Centre Invitational

DANVILLE, KY – Campbellsville was able to battle through the snowstorm this weekend at the Centre Invitational.

Friday's round of snow prevented the Tigers from competing that day which resulted in the team only being able to go to the Saturday session. The 200-yard medley relay was the first round of points for Campbellsville. Sofia Tricoli, Marlien Crewe-Brown, Victória Lanza, and Taryn Harper placed 11th overall in 2:00.97.

Marissa Toms gave the Tigers points in the 400-yard freestyle, placing 14th in 5:19.56. Harper and Clara Björkegren finished in back-to-back positions in the 200-yard freestyle. Harper was 21st in 2:15.04, and Bjorkegren was 22nd in 2:15.44. 

Crewe-Brown was seconds off the title in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was the runner-up in the event at 1:10.38, and Chloe Little placed 14th at 1:18.07. In the 100-yard backstroke, the Tigers had three athletes place in the top 30. Tricoli placed 24th in 1:07.20, Ellie Eisses was 28th in 1:11.70, and Abriella Taylor was 29th in 1:18.65. 

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Campbellsville placed 9th overall, with Lanza, Harper, Bjorkegren, and Crewe-Brown finishing in 8:49.68. Bjorkegren and Lanza were back-to-back finishers in the 1,650 freestyle. Bjorkegren placed 7th in 19:25.01, and Lanza was 8th in 19:25.89. 

Three athletes were in the 200-yard backstroke. Tricoli was a top-25 finisher in 24th in 2:29.32, Eisses was 25th at 2:38.43, and Adriana Castro earned 26th in 2:54.76. The 100-yard freestyle saw Harper and Little both place in the top 30. Harper was 25th overall in 1:02.06, and Little placed 28th in 1:02.86. 

Crewe-Brown found her way to the podium in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 3rd place time of 2:33.71. Lanza finished out the key individual performances for the Tigers in the 200-yard butterfly. Lanza placed 13th in 2:26.94. The final event for Campbellsville was the 400-yard freestyle relay, which placed 15th, with Bjorkegren, Harper, Eisses, and Lanza swimming the event at 4:03.34. 

The Tigers will appear in the water one more time before heading to the Mid-South Conference Championships on Saturday, January 25th, when they travel to Lindsey Wilson for the Highway 55 Last Chance Invitational.
