DANVILLE, Ky.- The Campbellsville women's swim team hit the road Tuesday night, delivering a series of standout performances at Centre College in a double-dual meet against Centre College and Midway University. Despite personal bests, season bests, and NAIA standards, Campbellsville fell to the Centre College Colonels (146-57) and to the Midway University Eagles (106-66).
The meet opened with a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay as the A-team of Natasha Maracci, Marlien Crewe-Brown, Victoria Lanza, and Ellie Eisses clocked a 1:56.91. The B-relay of Sofia Tricoli, Marissa Toms, Charlotte Stull, and Chloe Little also contributed points in 2:03.99.
In the 200 freestyle, Victoria Lanza led the way for the Tigers with a season-best 2:00.08, hitting the NAIA provisional qualifying standard and winning the event. Clara Bjorkegren followed in fourth with a 2:05.78, while Tricoli and Adison Melton both earned personal and season bests, respectively.
The 200 individual medley featured substantial depth for Campbellsville, with Maracci (2:21.91) and Evelina Lemon (2:29.41) both setting new personal bests. Toms and Little added key points with season-best swims.
In the sprint events, Eisses and Crewe-Brown finished sixth and seventh in the 50 freestyle, while Sarah Biveghe dropped time for a personal best of 29.13.
Lanza earned another top finish in the 100 butterfly, placing fourth in 1:02.96, while Lemon and Reagan Reany each set personal bests in the event.
Maracci posted a personal best 1:02.61 for third place in the 100 backstroke, followed closely by Tricoli, who also hit a career mark with a 1:03.69.
In the 100 breaststroke, Crewe-Brown dominated the field, winning the event in 1:07.42, a season's best that currently ranks second in the NAIA. Little, Reany, and Biveghe added points, with Reany also achieving a season best.
Distance proved another strength for Campbellsville as Bjorkegren swam a season-best 5:32.18 to take second in the 500 freestyle. Melton and Melanie Vogeler also recorded season-best times to round out a showing in the event.
The Tigers closed the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay, as Eisses, Crewe-Brown, Maracci, and Lanza combined for a 3:54.51, marking the team's fastest relay of the season so far.
The Tigers will return to the water on Thursday, October 30th, in Columbia, Kentucky, for a dual meet versus Lindsey Wilson.
