Crewe-Brown wins event; Tigers come up short in Lindsey Wilson dual

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Campbellsville University women's swim team competed on the road Thursday night in a dual meet against Lindsey Wilson University. Despite falling 115-73 to the Blue Raiders, the Tigers showed continued growth and determination in the pool.

The first event of the evening for the Tigers was the 200 medley relay, where the A-team of Sofia Tricoli, Marlien Crewe-Brown, Victoria Lanza, and Ellie Eisses placed second in 1:57.46, just behind Lindsey Wilson. The B relay of Marissa Toms, Chloe Little, Evelina Lemon, and Charlotte Stull followed with a time of 2:04.90.

Head coach Casey Bradstreet shared her thoughts on the team's effort, saying, "It was good to see everyone racing again after a couple of weeks off. We saw some great time improvements and also a lot of hard training paying off." That hard work was evident early in the meet, as several swimmers posted significant time drops.

In the 1650 freestyle, Adison Melton battled to a second-place finish in 21:36.91, while Nathalie Medina of Lindsey Wilson took first.

The 200 individual medley was one of the Tigers' best events of the night. Natasha Maracci took the win in a personal-best 2:20.47, with Stull and Toms finishing third and fourth in 2:28.37 and 2:29.83, both setting season bests.

"It's always exciting to see those swims that are the first time or the first time this season," Bradstreet added. "I think everyone battled in their races and the relays."

That competitive mindset continued in the 200 butterfly, where Lanza placed second in 2:22.65, a new season best, followed by Lemon in fourth with 2:31.25.

In the sprint events,  Crewe-Brown finished fifth in the 50 freestyle with 27.08, and Sarah Biveghe achieved a personal best of 28.66. Eisses added a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle at 1:00.95.

Maracci kept her strong momentum going with a win in the 200 backstroke at 2:18.64, while Tricoli recorded a personal best of 2:21.77 for third place.

Crewe-Brown returned to the top of the podium in the 200 breaststroke, taking first with a season-best 2:27.80, reinforcing her status as one of the team's most reliable performers. Little and Biveghe also added key points for the Tigers.

In the 500 freestyle, Melton and Reagan Reany secured second and third with times of 6:13.76 and 6:21.60, respectively.

To close out the night, the 800 freestyle relay team of Lanza, Maracci, Tricoli, and Stull finished second in 8:30.76.

The Tigers are right back at it on today, October 31, heading to Wilmore, Kentucky, for a dual meet against Asbury University.
