Campbellsville Tigers Story Banner 25-26

  • The Messerly sisters both recorded first-period pins, giving Campbellsville six points each and reaffirming their status among the top competitors in the Mid-South Conference.
  • Perez delivers one of Campbellsville's cleanest matches with her 5-0 shutout at 145 pounds.
  • Cumberlands capitalized on three open weight classes (103, 110, 117). This early separation shaped the final score.
  • Campbellsville won three of four contested bouts from 124 to 145. This run showed where the roster is solidifying its strength.
  • The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 16, as they travel to Presbyterian College for their next road match-up in Clinton, South Carolina.

Campbellsville's first spark came at 124 pounds. Addison Messerly (#18) delivered a momentum-shifting fall over Kaitlin Castro in 2:56. The pin energized both the lineup and the home crowd as the Tigers pushed back against an early Patriot lead.

Right behind her, Olivia Messerly (#9) put together another dominant showing at 131 pounds, overwhelming Amaria Ridgner and securing a fall at the 1:39 mark. The sisters' back-to-back pins marked the Tigers' strongest stretch of the dual as they climbed back into striking distance on the team score.

Campbellsville added its third victory at 145 pounds, where Gabriella Perez (#17) controlled her match from whistle to whistle, earning a composed 5-0 decision over Ruth Jimenez. Perez's win added three more team points and highlighted the Tigers' success in the middle weights.

Freshman Desi Lee wrestled one of the night's tougher match-ups at 207 pounds, going the distance against Destiny Marquez before falling by decision, 13-4. Lee's competitiveness against a seasoned opponent continued her early-season trajectory after a strong debut weekend.

At 180, Mariah Gardner dropped her bout by fall, while Cumberlands built an early lead off forfeits at 103, 110, and 117.

At 138, Rita Carey fought through a physical match before falling by technical fall (13–2) to Mary Jane Porter.

To close the night, Kylee Tait (#10) was caught in the opening sequence at 160 pounds and fell by fall in 1:00.

Despite the final score of 32-15, the reliability of Campbellsville's veterans and the continued growth of its young talent are notable. The Tigers generated three head-to-head victories and several competitive efforts against one of the nation's top-ranked teams.
