Campbellsville Tigers Story Banner 25-26

  • Whitney Hay led Campbellsville with 26 points (tying her career-high), Tyra Flowers with 11 rebounds and five assists, and Dea Bradley with a career-high seven steals.
  • Three Lady Tigers scored in double digits during the game: Hay (26), Bradley (18), and Flowers (10).
  • Campbellsville surpassed Texas A&M in most statistical categories, most significantly: rebounds (41-27), assists (17-10), points off turnovers (30-15), points in the paint (50-18), and second-chance points (16-9).
  • The Lady Tigers will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, November 22nd, on day 2 of the Bethel Invite, taking on the Haskell Indian Nations University Fighting Indians at 1 p.m. ET.

From the tip, Whitney Hay quickly became a huge contributor to the Lady Tigers' advantage with efficient shooting from the field and a near-perfect performance from the free-throw line, scoring 11 points in the opening frame. Campbellsville initially struggled from beyond the arc, where Texas A&M capitalized for the majority of their early points. Despite the Jaguars' perimeter shooting, the Lady Tigers headed into the second quarter with a five-point advantage, 18-13.

Both teams came into the second quarter with strong offensive play. Campbellsville's field goal percentage climbed to 52.4%, and they found their rhythm from deep with Dea Bradley, Hallie Allen, and Paige Serafini all connecting on long-range shots. Texas A&M, however, didn't balk, shooting from the field effectively and collecting free throws to stay within striking distance early. However, a late run allowed the Lady Tigers to stretch their lead to 16 points at the half, 46-30.

Campbellsville's dominance did not falter into the second half, with the gap on the scoreboard only widening as the minutes elapsed. The Lady Tiger defense forced turnovers resulting in steal after steal, returning the ball for Hay and Talynne Shearer to score multiple layups in transition. The Jaguars faced a scoring drought in the third, with both their field-goal and three-point percentages plummeting below 35%. Going into the final quarter, Campbellsville held a 25-point upper hand, 70-45.

Although the Lady Tigers cooled off from long range in the fourth, their shooting in the paint more than made up for the misses, increasing their lead. Campbellsville's defense kept Texas A&M at bay, holding the Jaguars to just one made field goal in the final ten minutes of play. The Jaguars' momentum from beyond the arc vanished during the final period, as they went 0-for-5 from deep while the Lady Tigers clawed their way further ahead. As Campbellsville only allowed seven points from Texas A&M throughout the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers secured the 40-point victory, 92-52.
