DANVILLE, Ky.- Campbellsville's women delivered strong performances at the Speedo Invitational, with Marlien Crewe-Brown achieving a standout provisional NAIA cut in the 100 Breast. The team demonstrated determination as they look ahead to the rest of the season.
Day One:
The 200 Free Relay set the tone, with Campebllsville fielding three squads in the opening sprint. The A-relay of Victoria Lanza, Natasha Maracci, Ellie Eisses, and Crewe-Brown posted 1:44.44, anchored by Crewe-Brown's strong closing 25.33 split. The B relay, Charlotte Stull, Chloe Little, Clara Björkegren, and Evelina Lemón finished 1:48.57, powered by solid middle legs and tight exchanges. The C relay, featuring Sofia Tricoli, Marissa Toms, Sara Biveghe, and Adison Melton, posted 1:53.94, giving Campbellsville depth and fight from the very start.
Lanza led the 500 Free C-final with a 5:30.15 season-best, dropping over seven seconds. Björkergren followed with a 5:38.00, maintaining a strong pace. In the 200 IM final, Maracci was Campbellsville's solo finalist, finishing with a 2:18.57 personal best after a strong backstroke and calm finish. During the 50 Free C-final, Crewe-Brown achieved a personal best (25.60). Day one concluded with two 400 Medley Relay teams: Maracci, Crewe-Brown, Lanza, and Eisses finished at 4:11.12, propelled by Eisses' 57.66 anchor. The B team of Tricoli, Little, Toms, and Lemón recorded 4:24.78, with Lemón breaking the 1:00 mark on the final leg.
Day Two:
Day two began with the Tigers continuing strong relay and individual performances. The 200 Medley Relay showcased the Tigers' depth: Maracci, Crewe-Brown, Lanza, and Eisses posted 1:53.56 for the A squad, Tricoli, Little, Lemón, and Björkergren finished at 1:59.34 for the B team, and the C relay clocked a 2:11.50.
Campbellsville swimmers posted strong results in individual events. Toms achieved a 5:11.38 season-best in the 400 IM, while Reagan Reany dropped eight seconds to a 5:27.13 personal best. In the 200 Free B-final, Lanza led three Tigers at 2:00.39, with Stull recording a 2:06.06 season best. Crewe-Brown set a school record and provisional NAIA mark with a 1:05.50 personal best in the 100 Breast A-final. In the 100 Backstroke C-final, Eisses dropped nearly three seconds to 1:04.22, while Maracci and Tricoli held steady. The day concluded with two strong 800 Free Relays: Lanza, Maracci, Lemón, and Björkergren anchored with a fast final leg for 8:27.43.
Day Three:
Campbellsville's women closed the Speedo Invitational on Day 3. In the 1650 Free, Björkergren posted a 19:28.53 season-best, dropping nearly 17 seconds, while Melton powered to a huge 20:34.90 personal best. In the 100 IM B-final, Stull touched in 1:07.83 and Reany in 1:11.67, both earning personal bests in this sprint-focused medley.
The 200 Back B and C finals saw continued drops, with Maracci posting a 2:16.73 personal best, Tricoli going 2:21.06, and Stull posting a solid 2:16.06 season-best. In the 200 Breast, Crewe-Brown delivered a standout 2:23.67 personal best in the A-final, while Toms anchored the C-final with a 2:42.16 season-best. The 200 Fly featured steady efforts from Lanza (2:27.23) and Lemón (2:28.38 personal best). Campbellsville's final relays closed the meet on a high note, with the 400 Free A relay of Maracci, Eisses, Crewe-Brown, and Lanza finishing 3:47.90, and the B relay of Stull, Lemón, Tricoli, and Little posting 3:57.64.
The Tigers return home on Friday, December 5th, to face the University of Tennessee Southern.
