Whitney Hay set the tone immediately, scoring bucket after bucket in the opening minutes.
Paige Serafini connected from beyond the arc for the game's first three-pointer, but Pikeville responded to keep things close early. Campbellsville's unselfish play, highlighted by six first-half assists from
Talynne Shearer, helped them build a lead. Before the first quarter clock expired, Hay had already reached double digits.
Ella House and
Bella Stiles provided a spark off the bench with aggressive drives to the basket, helping the Lady Tigers take a 23-19 lead after one.
The Bears opened the second quarter with a jumper, but House answered with swift layups to widen the gap. Both teams traded turnovers in a scrappy period, but
Tyra Flowers' defensive pressure proved too much for Pikeville, as she racked up steal after steal. The Bears' fouls sent the Lady Tigers to the charity stripe repeatedly, where House, Hay, and
Dea Bradley capitalized. Hay continued to be a nightmare for the Pikeville defense, shooting over 60% from the field as the Lady Tigers stretched their lead to 19 points, 48-29, at halftime.
The second half began much like the first ended, with Pikeville fouls sending Campbellsville to the line. Hay's relentless scoring continued in the paint, further cementing the Lady Tigers' momentum. Pikeville attempted to mount a comeback, but Flowers anchored the defense with timely blocks and steals. In the final 20 seconds of the third quarter,
Abby Gilbert and
Kinsley Molden scored back-to-back layups, sending Campbellsville into the final period with a commanding 29-point advantage, 71-42.
The Lady Tigers showed no signs of letting up in the fourth quarter. Pikeville's defense had no answer for Serafini and Hay, managing only a single layup in the first few minutes of the frame. Bradley and House pushed the Campbellsville total past 80 points, assisted by Stiles and Flowers. The Bears went cold, failing to score a field goal for nearly four minutes until a long-range shot at the 5:45 mark. As the final buzzer approached, a foul-heavy finish saw both teams trade free throws, but the result was never in doubt. Campbellsville closed out the weekend with an emphatic 92-54 victory.
