CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers kicked off home River States Conference play dominantly, sweeping Midway University in a commanding victory.
Campbellsville set the tone from the opening whistle with high energy and relentless play. The Tigers exploded out of the gate, racking 12 points before the Eagles could get on the board. Maintaining complete control, Campbellsville cruised to a 25-9 first-set win.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with the Tigers continuing their aggressive play. Ian Gei delivered back-to-back kills, while Diego Betancourt orchestrated the offense precisely, helping Gei and David Barcan register five kills each. Campbellsville closed out the set 25-8 after an attack error from Midway, putting themselves in prime position for the sweep.
Determined to finish strong, the Tigers became aggressive again in the third set. However, Midway refused to go down quickly, keeping the score competitive. Despite the Eagles' resistance, Campbellsville maintained at least a four-point cushion. Guthrie Hite made a statement late in the set with a huge aace to help seal the match, as the Tigers closed out the sweep with a 25-16 victory.
Campbellsville will be back in action tomorrow at 4 PM EST in Gosser Gymnasium, taking on the University of Rio Grande.
