Campbellsville places 6th at the Mid-South Conference Championships over the weekend

DANVILLE, KY – The Tigers placed 6th at the Mid-South Conference Championships this weekend down at Centre College. 

This was the first year the Mid-South Conference Championships have been at Centre College. In previous year, the meet has been held at Kingsport, TN at the Aquatic Center. 

The first round of points for Campbellsville came from a 6th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Taryn Harper, Ellie Eisses, Victória Lanza, and Charlotte Stull completed the event in 1:45.73, giving the team 26 early points. Lanza, Stull, Clara Björkegren, and Sofia Tricoli added 15 points in the B final of the 500-yard freestyle. Lanza led the way, placing 10th at 5:29.50, Stull was 12th in 5:35.86, Bjorkegren placed 15th at 5:45.75, and Tricoli brought in the final point for the team in 5:52.29, placing 16th. 

Three Tigers qualified for the B final of the 200-yard IM. Marlien Crewe-Brown, Marissa Toms, and Harper were in the final together. Crewe-Brown was 12th in 2:18.96, Toms finished in 14th place at 2:22.61, and Harper swam her way to 16th in 2:27.91. 

Campbellsville made their added 52  points from the 400-yard medley relay and the 200-yard medley relay. In the 400-yard medley relay, Tricoli, Crewe-Brown, Lanza, and Harper placed 6th in the event in 4:14.89. For the 200-yard medley relay, Tricoli, Crewe-Brown, Lanza, and Stull placed 6th overall in 1:54.48. 

Abriella Taylor qualified for the B final in the 100-yard butterfly. She placed 13th in the event in 1:15.66. Stull won the B final of the 400-yard IM placing 9th overall in an NAIA Provisional cut of 4:56.88. Toms was close behind Stull in 11th with a time of 5:09.27. Lanza swam an NAIA Provisional cut in the 200-yard freestyle with a 9th-place finishing time of 1:59.76. 

Crewe-Brown made the A final of the 100-yard breaststroke. She was only 1.59 seconds off a bronze medal in the event, placing 6th in 1:06.80. Chloe Little was in the B final of the event, placing 14th in 1:12.60. Tricoli and Eisses finished in back-to-back positions for the B final of the 100-yard backstroke. Tricoli was 15th in the event at 1:05.20, and Eisses was 16th at 1:05.74. 

Campbellsville came close to a bronze medal in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Lanza, Stull, Harper, and Bjorkegren finished the relay in 4th place at 8:24.53. Bjorkegren placed in the top ten of the 1650-yard freestyle earning the team seven points in a time of 20:30.20. Four Tigers were in the B final of the 200-yard backstroke. Stull finished in 12th at 2:21.49, Eisses was .06 behind in 2:21.55, Tricoli placed 14th in 2:23.42, and Adriana Castro Coronado finished out the scoring in the event in 2:42.87. 

Crewe-Brown earned her first bronze medal of the meet in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.17, beating out 4th by .61. Toms was 15th place in the finals in 2:39.46. Lanza made the B final of the 200-yard butterfly placing 9th in the event in 2:16.47. The final event for the Tigers that earned points was the 400-yard freestyle relay. Lanza, Stull, Harper, and Eisses gave Campbellsville 26 points, placing 6th overall in 3:51.10. 

As a team, Campbellsville finished in 6th place with 254 team points. The Tigers will now have four weeks to prepare for the athletes who have qualified for the NAIA National Championship in Elkhart, Indiana.
