Tigers' hot hitting leads them to 6th straight win

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In a highly anticipated match-up, the Campbellsville Tigers defended their home court with a commanding sweep over the Brescia University Bearcats. The Tigers came out strong and never looked back, securing the victory in three straight sets.

The opening frame set the tone for the match as Ian Gei delivered an electrifying kill to get the Tigers rolling. Brescia quickly called a timeout at 3-1 to regroup, but Campbellsville remained in control. Ayoube Hamadache powered through a triple block to extend the Tigers' lead to four points, and the offense continued to dominate. Campbellsville hit an impressive .581 in the first set while holding Brescia to just .083. The Tigers cruised to a 25-11 victory, establishing early dominance.

Brescia returned with renewed confidence in the second set, landing back-to-back aces and forcing Campbellsville to call an early timeout. However, a service error by the Bearcats allowed the Tigers to regain momentum, followed by a crucial stuff block. The set remained closer than the first, but Campbellsville capitalized on an overpass kill by Denzel Madrigal to pull ahead. Pedro Zavatini extended the lead to seven with a kill, and the Tigers maintained control to take the second set 25-15.

Looking for the sweep, Campbellsville opened the third set with fire and energy, as Gei and Zavatini registered early kills. The Tigers' strong offensive and serve-receive play forced Brescia to call a timeout at 12-6. Moritz Frauendor added an ace to extend the lead to six, but the Bearcats fought back, battling point for point. With the score tied at 24, Brescia secured a crucial stuff block to take a one-point lead. However, the Tigers held their ground in a thrilling finish, and Gei delivered a clutch ace to seal the match 28-26.

Campbellsville now hits the road for an extended stretch, heading to the Sunshine State to take on St. Thomas University and Governors State University on Friday, March 7, at 10 a.m. ET and 3 p.m. ET.
