CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Lady Tigers hosted the Milligan University Buffaloes on Thursday. After an intense overtime, with both teams getting two opportunities to score, Milligan won 31-30.
The Buffaloes were first on the scoreboard with a touchdown. Imani Scott had three complete consecutive passes to Jaycie Harper, Alex Odom, and Presley Payne. Scott rushed the ball to score the Lady Tigers' first touchdown, tying the score, 6-6.
Korine Talkington threw a pass to Odom for another Campbellsville touchdown to steal the lead. The Lady Tigers' defense came into play with a big fourth down stop in the red zone to prevent Milligan from scoring. Scott threw a 35-yard pass to Odom for a first down, and the half closed with the score tied, 12-12.
Harper intercepted the Buffaloes' ball nearing the Lady Tigers' end zone. Neither team managed to score throughout the third quarter, and the score remained tied at 12.
Milligan entered the fourth quarter with its third touchdown. With under two seconds left in the final quarter, Scott threw an avid 30-yard dime to Odom for a game-tying touchdown.
In the first play of overtime, the Buffaloes scored another touchdown. Campbellsville retaliated during their turn with the ball on fourth down, the last opportunity to score, where Talkington scrambled for six points. With the Lady Tigers then alternating which team took possession for the next set of overtime downs, Talkington threw a fade into the end zone's back corner to Angeline Beecher for another touchdown to keep the advantage. However, in their next scoring opportunity, Milligan scored another touchdown with the extra point to secure the win.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, April 26th, when they travel to Franklin Springs, Georgia, to battle the Emmanuel University Lions. The game will begin at 3 p.m. ET.
