Campbellsville seeks National Tournament bid at NAIA East Flag Football Championship

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The postseason has officially arrived. The Campbellsville University Women's Flag Football team is set to travel to Columbus, Indiana, to battle for an automatic bid into the NAIA Flag Football Invitational at the 2026 NAIA East Flag Football Championship.

The tournament, which unites institutions from the Appalachian Athletic Conference, Crossroads League, Mid-South Conference, and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, will be held at the Circle K Fieldhouse at NexusPark on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24.

Entering the tournament as the #4 seed based on the NAIA Area Ranking Committee (ARC) rating, the Lady Tigers (6-9) are placed into Pool A alongside the top-seeded Milligan University Buffaloes and the #5-seed Siena Heights University Saints.

Campbellsville's postseason journey begins bright and early Thursday with a 9 a.m. ET showdown against #1 Milligan. The Lady Tigers will be looking to flip the script against the Buffaloes, who bested Campbellsville in their two regular-season meetings, including a hard-fought 27-12 decision just days ago.

Lady Tigers will close out Thursday's pool play at 5 p.m. ET against a familiar foe in Siena Heights. Campbellsville holds a distinct edge in this matchup, having swept the Saints during the regular season with a dominant 35-6 neutral-site victory on March 21 and a 31-21 win at Finley Stadium on March 27.

Pool B features #2 Saint Francis, #3 Lindsey Wilson, and #6 Cumberland. Following Thursday's pool play, all six teams will be seeded into a single-elimination bracket on Friday. The two pool winners will earn valuable byes into the 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. ET semifinals. The Friday morning quarterfinals are slated for 9 and 11 a.m. ET, with the championship game crowning the regional victor at 6 p.m. ET.

To make a deep run into Friday evening, Campbellsville will lean heavily on its high-octane passing attack. Sophomore quarterback Korine Talkington has been the engine of the offense, completing 252 of her 455 attempts for 2,737 passing yards and 36 touchdowns during the regular season.

Talkington's success is bolstered by a dynamic receiving corps. Monica Montes leads the team with 60 receptions for 825 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Alex Odom has been an elite red-zone threat, hauling in 45 catches for 678 yards and a team-high 12 receiving touchdowns. Natalia Gomez has also been a crucial chain-mover, contributing 491 yards and four scores.

Defensively, the Lady Tigers rely on the punishing play of linebackers Timaya Woody and Emani Scott. Woody has racked up a staggering 90 tackles to lead the unit, along with four tackles for loss. Scott has been an opportunistic ball hawk, registering 70 tackles, three interceptions, and two sacks on the year.

The team that survives the gauntlet on Friday night will punch their ticket to the ultimate prize: the eight-team NAIA National Invitational, held May 6-9 at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
