ATLANTA, GA & DANVILLE, KY - Multiple school records fell, and NAIA National standards were achieved this weekend as the Tigers split squads at Centre College and Georgia Tech.
In Danville,
Mavrik Hall was the first highlight of the weekend for the team. He set the school record in the shot put of 15.30m that placed him 3rd overall off his final throw of the day. That breaks the previous record by .19m held by Anthony Sams and Dale Kerr. In the discus, Campbellsville had spots 6-8 locked in.
Joel Roberts led the way with a 6th-place throw of 41.17m,
Jeremiah Schine was 7th at 38.12m, and Hall placed 8th overall with a mark of 36.66m. Roberts also placed himself inside the top eight in the hammer throw. His best landed at 43.49m on his fourth throw.
Samuel Larson earned 7th in the 800m with a collegiate personal best time of 2:04.76. Larson and
Ethan Johnson were top five finishers in the 1500m. Johnson led the way, earning the bronze medal finish of 4:10.98, while Larson was 4th at 4:17.39.
Luke Burton was the runner-up in the 5,000m run, finishing well ahead of third place at 16:55.16.
Zachary Lynch placed 3rd overall in the 3,000m steeplechase in 11:06.95.Â
William Riley and
Zahnte' Brown both finished in back-to-back positions in the 110m hurdles. Riley was first to cross the finish line, placing 6th at 17.62, and Brown placed 7th at 19.73. Â
In Atlanta,
Jason Baskerville began day one with a 10.72 in the 100m.
Alex Steen was the top athlete in for the Tigers in the 1500m with his time of 4:05.81.
Martin Batel led the way and had the best finish for Campbellsville in the 3,000m steeplechase. The graduate student ran a personal best time of 9:22.37. Freshman
Dominic Malel finished out the first day for the team in the 5,000m run. Malel went sub-15 in the event in 14:59.69.Â
To begin the second day,
CamRon Hamby and
Corey Smith II both competed in the triple jump. Hamby improved upon his NAIA standard by .01m with an 8th-place mark of 15.02m. Smith hit a mark of 14.28m on his third attempt of the day. Campbellsville's primary highlight of the second day came from the 4x100m relay. An NAIA standard was set from
Schavon Carr,
Zachary Phelps,
Isaiah Johnson, and Baskerville in 41.09 placing 8th overall.
Phelps was the top finisher for the team in the 400m, tying his school record in the event of 48.43.
Jonah Oliver was the lone man in the discus throw for the Tigers with his first mark of the day landing at 37.00m.Â
One final school record was set to finish out the weekend. The 4x400m relay of
Chris Thomas, Phelps, Matthias Brice, and
Kamarion Ward ran a time of 3:16.58 and earning an NAIA B Standard.Â
Campbellsville will now split squads again next weekend. They will head to the University of Louisville for the Clark Wood Invitational and the historic Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania.
