LOUISVILLE, KY & PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Tigers split squads one final time ahead of the Mid-South Conference Championships next weekend.
In Louisville,
Lukas Smithson was the highlight of the weekend for the team. Smithson set the school record and earned an NAIA B Standard in the 3,000m steeplechase. Smithson was .09 off the win in the event with a runner-up time of 9:18.24. Smithson also had a second personal best on the weekend in the 800m in 1:54.67.
Alex Steen was close behind Smithson in the 800m in 1:57.11.
Dakota Brady led the way in the 1500m running 4:15.40.
Martin Batel was first in for the Tigers in the 5,000m run in 15:18.28.
Devin Girtman and
Isiah Bain were the top finishers in the 100m and 200m for Campbellsville. Girtman ran a time of 10.82 in the 100m (1.3 wind), while Bain ran 22.27 (1.1 wind).
Corey Smith II hit a mark of 6.37m (1.1 wind) in the long jump on his second jump of the day.
David Young hit a season-best in the triple jump with a mark landing at 14.14m. Mavirk Hall placed inside the top eight in the shot put. Hall was .06m off, tying his personal best in the event with a mark of 15.24m.
Joel Roberts threw for a 42.68m on his second throw of the day in the discus.
In Philadelphia at Penn Relays,
Jason Baskerville ran in the 100m at the historical meet. Baskerville crossed the line in 10.44 (0.4 wind). Baskerville was joined by
Zachary Phelps,
Schavon Carr, and
Ethan Johnson in the 4x100m relay running 41.56. After running a school record last weekend, the 4x400m relay ran 3:17.36 with
Chris Thomas, Phelps, Matthias Brice, and
Kamarion Ward on the team.
Campbellsville will now turn its attention towards the Mid-South Conference Championships May 4-5 in Williamsburg, KY.
