LOUISVILLE, KY – The weather caused the Tigers to only be able to complete one day of the Jim Vargo Invitational over the weekend.
Like most of the Southeast and Midwestern states over the past week has experienced flooding, high winds, and constant storms caused for a lot of cancelations and delays. This past weekend was no exception for the team.
Dominic Malel highlighted a key performance for the team. Malel ran a school record and personal best in the 10,000m run of 31:13.92 for the win. Teammate
Martin Batel garnered the bronze medal in the 10,0000m in a time of 32:03.07.
Samuel Bennett ran a lifetime best in the event placing 7th in the race at 32:35.37.
In the 1500m,
Lukas Smithson ran a personal best in the event placing 13th in the finals at 3:56.44.
Jason Baskerville ran away with the victory in the 100m in 10.81 (0.4 wind).
Isaiah Johnson and
Schavon Carr also placed in the top eight in the 100m. Johnson was 6th overall at 11.10, and Carr was .01 behind in 7th at 11.11.
Campbellsville had three of the top four finishers in the 400m. Matthias Brice won the event in 49.58,
Kamarion Ward earned the bronze medal position in 51.79, and
Isiah Bain was 4th in the event in 53.09.
In the hammer throw, Campbellsville placed all three athletes within four places of each other.
Jonah Oliver led the way placing 11th at 40.39m,
Joel Roberts was 12th with a mark of 40.10m, and
Mavrik Hall rounded out the trio at 37.95m.
Campbellsville will head to Gordon Bocock Invitational at the University of the Cumberlands this upcoming weekend from April 11-12.
