Esports has multiple teams qualify for playoffs

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Smash, Apex, and FIFA have been in full swing over the last month, with multiple teams qualifying for the playoffs. 

Week Four started with Apex scoring 69 points, a season-high. Smash played against Bellarmine in ECAC play, losing 2-0. John Luke Roberts took two stocks with Roy. Jacob Kehm erased six with Diddy Kong. Grayson Lang (Hero) and Keeghan Finn (Lucina) combined for one. Sergio Laguna defeated Keiser University – Lakeland due to a forfeit. Daniel Laguna played University of Albany, losing the match 2-1.  

In MSC play, Smash faced Bethel University and defeated the Wildcats 3-1. Grayson Lang, Finn, and J. Kehm each took six stocks, while Mattias Shepard took zero. 

Smash defeated Buena Vista University 2-1 to start week five. Roberts and Dalton Kehm stole nine stocks. J. Kehm was right behind with eight. Finn deleted five, and Lang took none. 

Apex added 60 points to their season, another strong showing for the squad. 

S. Laguna for FIFA Academy defeated Bridgewater College and outscored his opponent 11-2. D. Laguna beat Fanshawe College, 2-0, for FIFA Varsity. 

Smash had a doubleheader against Cornell College and Miami University in the MEC competition. Roberts had four, Finn stole two, D. Kehm tallied six, J. Kehm had two, and Lang finished with zero.

The Smash team then traveled to the Midwest Battleground in Lisle, Illinois. J. Kehm finished 33rd out of 97 competitors, the highest finish for CU. 

Apex racked up 31 points to start week six. In conference, the team sits in 12th place. 

S. Laguna added another win over Bridgewater College, winning 2-1. D. Laguna followed suit with a 2-0 victory over William and Mary University.

Smash lost against the Catholic University of America, 2-1. D. Kehm put on a clinic with 18 stocks, J. Kehm erased six, and Finn and Roberts ended with three each. In MSC play, the Tigers beat Freed-Hardeman 2-1. Roberts and D. Kehm stole the show, taking 26 stocks combined. Shepard and Lang ended with two. Finn and J. Kehm finished with one. 

Week Seven saw FIFA qualifying for playoffs in the ECAC. Daniel is seeded second and Sergio in 22nd. 

Apex tallied 28 more points, solidifying the 12th spot in the conference and qualifying them for the playoffs. 

This week was busy for the Smash group, playing five matches. The Tigers played against Kennesaw State, Bethel University, Cornell College, Miami University, and Illinois College. The Tigers went 3-2. Throughout the week, Finn totaled 21 stocks. Lang took seven. D. Kehm totaled 14. J. Kehm ended with five. Roberts took one and Shepard didn't have any.
