Close road battle ends in favor of Golden Bears, 2-1

MONTGOMERY, W.Va.- The Tigers took the road on Friday night to battle the West Virginia University Institute of Technology Golden Bears. Although Campbellsville managed to score later in the game, it was not enough to overcome WVU Tech's advantage, losing the game, 2-1.

  • Freshman Izan Garcia Gancedo led the Tigers with one goal, three shots, and three shots on goal, followed by Mihlali Blesi and Eduardo de Filippis with two shots and one shot on goal each.
  • Goalie Malte Schou collected two saves throughout the contest.
  • Despite the defeat, Campbellsville surpassed WVU Tech in a couple of statistical categories of the match: shots (11-8) and shots on goal (9-4).

Jon Magnusson began the game with avid kicks at the corner and shots at the goal, unable to score as the game unfolded. The Golden Bears were first on the scoreboard at minute 32, closing the half with Campbellsville trailing WVU Tech, 1-0.

Mihlali Blesi, Ollie Jagroop, and Eduardo de Filippis came into the game with shot after shot, all saved by the Golden Bears' goalie. Shortly after, WVU Tech scored another goal to extend their lead while the Tigers were yet to score. However, with only 20 minutes left in the contest, Izan Garcia Gancedo scored Campbellsville's first goal, bringing the Tigers closer to catching up with the Golden Bears' advantage. Although Garcia Gancedo and Harry Freeman attempted to steal the lead, the time on the clock expired before they had the chance to score any further, falling to WVU Tech, 2-1.
