CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Tigers hosted the Saint Xavier University Cougars on Saturday night for the home-opener game. With a fierce goal in the final minutes of the match, Campbellsville took the victory from Saint Xavier, 2-0.

- Freshman Izan Garcia Gancedo led Campbellsville with one goal, two shots, and two shots on goal, followed by graduate student Harry Freeman with one goal, one shot, and one shot on goal, Mihlali Blesi with one assist, two shots, and one shot on goal, and Filip Sarci with two shots and one shot on goal.
- Malthe Schou collected two saves throughout the match.
- The Tigers surpassed the Cougars in multiple statistical categories of the game: shots (10-6), shots on goal (6-2), corners (3-0), assists (2-0), and goals (2-0).
- Today's game was Campbellsville's sixth-ever game against Saint Xavier and the Tigers' first win against the Cougars since 2021.
- The Tigers will be back in action, hosting the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks on Tuesday, September 9th, beginning at 8 p.m. ET for the first home doubleheader of the season.
Filip Saric and Andreas Slethaug came into the game with avid shots at the goal, unable to put the Tigers on the scoreboard despite their efforts. The Cougars retaliated with a few shots of their own, but the Campbellsville defense prevented Saint Xavier from scoring either. The first half closed with no goals on the scoreboard.
The Cougars managed to collect far more shots as the second half developed; however, Malthe Schou saved their every chance to gain the lead. Malte Ekman, Izan Garcia Gancedo, and Eduardo de Filippis came into the game with strong offensive charges against Saint Xavier, but the Cougars' goalie saved their chances at the goal. With ten minutes left on the clock, Garcia Gancedo scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Mihlali Blesi, earning the lead for the Tigers in the final stretch of the match. Blesi attempted two more shots at the goal, neither of which was successful. With a corner kick by Jon Magnusson, Harry Freeman widened Campbellsville's advantage with a header goal and only two minutes remaining in the contest. The Tigers closed the game with a second consecutive victory, 2-0.
