DANVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University swim teams returned to the pool this weekend to compete in the Colonel Classic hosted by Centre College, highlighted by a pair of individual victories from
Marlien Crewe-Brown and a podium showing from the men's squad.
- Marlien Crewe-Brown delivered a dominant performance, sweeping the women's breaststroke events with victories in both the 100-yard (1:07.36) and 200-yard (2:26.53) races.
- Andreu Jaen Serra anchored the men's distance efforts, earning a fourth-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:54.92) and fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.11).
- Kyle Kleinhans secured a podium finish for the Tigers, touching the wall third in the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.72.
- The men's 800-yard freestyle relay squad of Jaen Serra, Adrien Cantemerle, Kleinhans, and Luis Castro placed sixth overall with a time of 7:22.72.
- Campbellsville's men's team finished the meet in fifth place with 231 points, while the women's team placed seventh with 136 points.
Facing a field that included Trinity University (Texas), Milligan University, and host Centre, the Tigers saw strong individual efforts across the two-day meet at Boles Natatorium. The men's team accumulated 231 points to finish fifth in the team standings, while the women's team placed seventh with 136 points.
Marlien Crewe-Brown headlined the women's performance, completing a clean sweep of the breaststroke disciplines. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Crewe-Brown outpaced the field to take first place with a time of 1:07.36. She followed that performance with a convincing win in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 2:26.53 to secure maximum points for the Lady Tigers.
In the relay events, the women's 800-yard freestyle relay team, comprised of Clara Bjorkegren,
Natasha Maracci,
Adison Melton, and Victoria Lanza, finished sixth with a time of 8:57.18.
On the men's side,
Andreu Jaen Serra provided a spark in the distance and medley events. The freshman showcased his endurance in the grueling 1650-yard freestyle, finishing fourth with a time of 16:54.92. He also claimed a top-five finish in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 4:51.11, and added a fifth-place result in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:28.77.
Kyle Kleinhans added to the Tigers' point total with a standout swim in the 100-yard backstroke. Kleinhans hit the pad in 54.72 to take third place. In the 200-yard freestyle,
Adrien Cantemerle secured a top-10 finish, placing ninth with a time of 1:48.98.
The men's relay teams also logged competitive times. The 800-yard freestyle relay quartet of Jaen Serra, Cantemerle, Kleinhans, and
Luis Castro finished sixth in 7:22.72. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of
Bikash Kumal, Kleinhans, Jacob Isacson, and
Garrett Schmidt finished 10th with a time of 1:32.44.
Trinity University (Texas) took the top spot in both the men's and women's team standings.
