Campbellsville Tigers Story Banner 25-26
  • The Campbellsville University women's tennis team opened their 2026 spring season with a pair of hard-fought road victories, defeating Brescia University 4-3 before taking down Centre College 5-2.
  • Despite dropping the initial doubles point in both matchups, the Tigers displayed tremendous resilience by dominating singles play to secure both overall team victories.
  • Valentina Curli, Evdokiia Volkova, Jimena Palomo, and Miho Akita each posted perfect 2-0 singles records across the opening weekend to pace the Campbellsville lineup.
  • The doubles tandem of Ekaterina Amosova and Curli provided a consistent bright spot in paired play, capturing victories at the No. 3 flight against both the Bearcats and the Colonels.
  • Campbellsville will look to keep their undefeated 2-0 record intact when they travel to face Cumberland University on February 28.
The tightly contested season opener ultimately came down to Campbellsville's depth in singles play. Brescia secured the early 1-0 advantage by claiming the doubles point, taking wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Campbellsville's lone doubles victory came at the No. 3 slot, where Ekaterina Amosova and Valentina Curli cruised to a 6-1 win.

Trailing 1-0 heading into singles action, the Tigers responded emphatically, winning four of the six flights. Curli put the Tigers on the board with a straight-set win at No. 3, dispatching her opponent 6-4, 6-3. Evdokiia Volkova followed suit, shifting the momentum in Campbellsville's favor with a commanding 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 4.

Jimena Palomo and Miho Akita then slammed the door on the Bearcats, sealing the decisive points with absolute dominance. Both Palomo at No. 5 and Akita at No. 6 delivered flawless 6-0, 6-0 double-bagel performances to clinch the 4-3 team victory.
Much like Friday's opener, Campbellsville was forced to bounce back after dropping the opening doubles point. Centre secured the early 1-0 lead by taking two of the three doubles matchups. Carlie Mitchell and Grace Williams defeated Akita and Volkova 6-2 at No. 1, while Natalie Black and Kennedy Herring claimed a 6-4 win over Belen Cavallero and Andrea Pulido at No. 2. The Tigers picked up a key win at No. 3 doubles once again, where Curli and Amosova delivered a 6-3 victory.

Trailing heading into singles, Campbellsville quickly flipped the script, winning five of the six singles matchups to secure the comeback road triumph.

Curli evened the overall team score with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 straight-set win at No. 2 singles. Cavallero followed with a gritty performance at No. 3, battling to a 7-5 first-set victory before cruising 6-0 in the second to give the Tigers a 2-1 advantage.

Volkova extended the lead at No. 4 singles, dominating her opponent 6-0, 6-2 to put Campbellsville firmly in control. Centre managed to answer at the top spot, as Grace Williams defeated Amosova at No. 1 singles.

However, Palomo officially clinched the team victory at No. 5 singles, holding off a late second-set push from her opponent to win 6-0, 7-5. Akita capped off the afternoon at No. 6 singles, earning a split-set victory (6-3, 1-6) to finalize the 5-2 result
