KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a string of solid performances, the Campbellsville University women's tennis team remains on the national radar, collecting votes in the latest NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Rating released on April 8th.
The Tigers hold a 10-5 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference action. They enter the backstretch of the season carrying momentum from a two-match win streak. Campbellsville recently dispatched Midway 6-1 at home on April 3rd before sweeping Tennessee Southern 7-0 on the road on April 6th. Overall, the Tigers have been reliable both at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex (5-2) and on the road (5-3).
Strength of schedule has been a hallmark for Campbellsville this spring. The Tigers have faced a gauntlet of ranked opponents, including #2 Lindsey Wilson, #13 Cumberlands (Ky.), #19 Cumberland (Tenn.), #22 Coastal Georgia, and #25 Georgia Gwinnett. The highlight of that stretch remains their thrilling 4-3 victory over the Grizzlies back in March.
Individually,
Miho Akita continues to pace the team with a stellar 11-3 singles record.
Belen Cavallero,
Jimena Palomo, and
Evdokiia Volkova have each tallied eight singles wins to provide vital depth for the Tigers. As a unit, Campbellsville holds a 55-33 record in singles play.
In doubles action, the Tigers have collected 23 total team victories.
Ekaterina Amosova and
Valentina Curli have been the standout contributors in paired play, each earning 11 individual doubles wins to lead the roster.
The final NAIA Women's Tennis poll of the season will be released on Wednesday, April 22nd.
