Lady Tigers suffer 74-71 loss to Georgetown in MSC Quarterfinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The fourth-seeded Campbellsville University Lady Tigers took on the fifth-seeded Georgetown College Tigers on Friday afternoon in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at Bowling Green Arena. Despite building a commanding 22-point lead early in the third quarter, Campbellsville fell victim to a fierce second-half rally by Georgetown's aggressive offense, dropping a 74-71 heartbreaker to end their conference tournament run.

Campbellsville Tigers Story Banner 25-26
  • Three Lady Tigers scored in double figures: Dea Bradley (23 points), Hallie Allen (14), and Whitney Hay (12).
  • Bradley paced the Campbellsville offense with nine field goals and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, while Allen provided an elite perimeter spark with a team-high four three-pointers.
  • Tyra Flowers facilitated the offense with a team-high four assists to go along with six points and six rebounds.
  • Despite the loss, Campbellsville outperformed Georgetown in several key statistical categories, including free-throw percentage (92.3% to 70.8%), bench points (14-2), points in the paint (30-16), second-chance points (14-10), and total rebounds (40-32).
The quarterfinal match-up began as a tightly contested affair, with both teams trading baskets throughout the opening minutes. Hallie Allen struck with a relentless three-pointer to ignite Campbellsville's offensive dominance. Talynne Shearer and Dea Bradley followed shortly after with strong conversions in the paint, extending the Lady Tigers' advantage to a 27-22 lead at the close of the first period.

Whitney Hay opened the second quarter with a crisp layup, showcasing Campbellsville's control of the tempo. Allen attacked again from long range, draining another crucial three-pointer to stifle the opposition. Georgetown managed to score their first points of the quarter at the charity stripe, but the suffocating Campbellsville defense held them without a made field goal until the 4:58 mark. Bradley's double-figure scoring in the first half was a testament to the Lady Tigers' offensive execution; she reached 15 points with the help of an Ella House assist. At the halftime break, Campbellsville held a dominant 17-point advantage, 43-26.

In the opening seconds of the second half, Georgetown quickly found the bottom of the net. However, Campbellsville immediately responded with a 7-0 run—highlighted by Allen, Bradley, and Tyra Flowers—to secure their largest advantage of the game at 22 points (50-28). Refusing to go quietly, the Georgetown Tigers fueled their efforts with strong offensive possessions to cut their deficit to 13 points, 62-49, heading into the final frame. Both teams stood at the charity stripe time and time again as the physicality of the postseason clash escalated.

Much like the third quarter, Georgetown was the first to score in the final period. Allen continued to answer Georgetown's offense from beyond the arc, but the momentum had shifted. Georgetown systematically chipped away at Campbellsville's advantage, using an extended run to narrow the gap to a single possession. In the final minute of the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers' efforts to reclaim control of the scoreboard were counteracted by several foul calls that returned Georgetown to the free-throw line. Despite several late attempts by Bradley, Campbellsville was unable to sink a final basket to force overtime, falling in a narrow three-point contest.
