Olivia Messerly claims title, Tigers nab 3 podium finishes at Blue Raider Open

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The #15 Campbellsville University women's wrestling team traveled to Columbia on Saturday for the Blue Raider Open, leaving with hardware as three Tigers earned podium finishes. Leading the charge was #16 Olivia Messerly, who captured the 131-pound championship, while #15 Addison Messerly and #12 Kylee Tait battled through the consolation brackets to take third place in their respective weight classes.

At 131 pounds, Olivia Messerly was untouchable. She opened her tournament run with a lightning-fast fall over Hadassah Lopez (Andrew College) in just 27 seconds, followed by a quarterfinal pin of Lincoln Memorial's Alyssa Roberts. In the semifinals, Messerly secured her spot in the championship bout with a dominant 15-4 technical fall over Trinity Davis (Unattached). She capped her perfect day in the finals, cruising to the title with a 16-6 technical fall victory over Evelyn Holmes-Smith (Unattached).

#15 Addison Messerly showed grit at 124 pounds, navigating a tough path through the consolation bracket to earn bronze. After stringing together falls over Natalia Sanchez and Madison Wilson of Emory & Henry, she added pins against Ariel Goble (Andrew College) and Lindsey Wilson's Jaden Evans to reach the third-place match. Messerly wasted no time securing the medal, pinning Allison Meyer (Lindenwood) in just 57 seconds.

In the 160-pound division, #12 Kylee Tait posted another strong podium finish for the Tigers. Tait started fast with a 31-second fall over Midway's Kaily Bussard, followed by technical falls against Bralyn Maynard (Unattached) and Talia Reed (Missouri Baptist). Despite a narrow loss in the semifinals to Alana Duggan (Lindenwood), Tait rebounded with authority, rattling off back-to-back 10-0 technical falls over Trinity Gottler (Midway) and Sofia Vergara (Unattached) to claim third place.

#7 Gaby Perez placed fourth at 145 pounds, highlighting her day with a 12-2 technical fall over Genesis Chinchilla (Greensboro College) and a 3:00 fall over Lindenwood's Madeline Haynes in the consolation semifinals.

Other notable performances included Josie Davis (124 lbs), who notched falls over Lindsey Wilson's Giannina Simonpietri and Catherine Head (Unattached) along with a 10-0 technical fall, and Cameron Ortiz (131 lbs), who reached the semifinals with falls over Chrishama Annacius (Andrew College) and Brailey Jackson (Unattached).
