Tigers go 2-1 at 4th annual Flag Frenzy, highlighted by double-digit wins over Siena Heights, Life

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville University Flag Football team hosted the 4th annual Flag Frenzy for the last weekend of March. The Lady Tigers lost a hard-fought opening game of the weekend against Saint Francis, but bounced back to take two double-digit victories against Siena Heights and Life.

GAME ONE: Saint Francis 32, Campbellsville 26
The opening game of the Flag Frenzy saw the Lady Tigers in a back-and-forth battle. Campbellsville opened the scoring in the first quarter. Quarterback Korine Talkington capped off a 13-play, 66-yard drive with a one-yard rushing touchdown. Saint Francis responded to take the lead. Talkington then connected with Alex Odom for a six-yard touchdown in the second quarter to keep the game tight.

The game saw a slow third quarter, with both teams collecting a few completed passes but losing yards and unable to reach the end zone.

In the fourth quarter, Talkington threw a 50-yard touchdown to Odom, giving Campbellsville a chance to take the lead. However, despite a late 34-yard touchdown pass from Talkington to Natalia Gomez, Saint Francis managed to maintain their advantage and win 32-26, with the Lady Tigers coming up just short in the final moments.

GAME TWO: Campbellsville 31, Siena Heights 21
The Lady Tigers rebounded against Siena Heights. Campbellsville was the first to score with a complete pass from Talkington to Ava Kelley for a six-yard touchdown during Campbellsville's third drive in the first quarter. Kelley reached the end zone once again quickly, with an eight-yard pass from Talkington during the Lady Tigers' first drive of the second quarter. With 22 seconds left on the clock, Siena Heights scored its first touchdown of the game, closing the first half with Campbellsville leading 12-6.

Both teams struggled to connect as the third quarter unfolded, collecting repeated incomplete passes and lost yards. However, Siena Heights took a one-point lead, 13-12, with a 17-yard touchdown by Breana Saunders. Another pass by Saunders in the closing minute of the quarter converted into another touchdown. With a successful two-point conversion, they widened their lead to 21-12.

At the start of the final period, Monica Montes broke Saunders' momentum with an interception, rushing 40 yards for a defensive touchdown to narrow the Lady Tigers' deficit to three. The momentum then shifted as Talkington connected with Carley Troutman for a 10-yard touchdown, reclaiming the lead. Montes continued her strong play, catching an 11-yard touchdown pass with a successful one-point conversion.

Talkington racked up 257 passing yards on 19 completed passes against the Saints. Montes highlighted the offense with 52 receiving yards, an offensive touchdown, and her 40-yard interception return. Timaya Woody anchored the defense with seven tackles. Madison Witten added six stops to help secure the Lady Tigers' first victory of the weekend.

GAME THREE: Campbellsville 27, Life 14
The Lady Tigers started strong, with Talkington connecting with Odom for a 15-yard touchdown. Life tied it on the next drive with a 21-yard rushing score.

Campbellsville reached the end zone again in the third quarter, during a third down, with a three-yard pass from Talkington to Kelley. Talkington then called her own number, rushing for a two-yard touchdown to give the Lady Tigers a commanding 21-7 lead.

Life began the fourth quarter with a rushing touchdown, but the Lady Tigers still led the game. Campbellsville only continued to extend its lead with a three-yard passing touchdown to Montes to finish the game with another Lady Tigers win.
