Palomo earns All-Conference honors as Tiger Tennis begins MSC Tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The postseason has officially arrived for the Campbellsville University tennis programs. The #4-seeded Lady Tigers and the #5-seeded Tigers are primed and ready for the 2026 Mid-South Conference Championships, which begin Friday at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park.

With an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship in Mobile, Alabama, on the line, both squads face pivotal opening-round tests with an eye toward dethroning the reigning tournament champions from Lindsey Wilson University.

Heading into the championship weekend, the MSC announced its year-end awards, and Campbellsville's own Jimena Palomo earned All-Conference honors. The recognition is well-deserved; Palomo has been a critical anchor in the middle of the lineup, posting an 11-5 singles record while helping guide the team to a 13-7 overall regular-season mark.

As a unit, the Campbellsville women (13-7, 1-1 MSC) have been lethal in singles action all spring, compiling a 74-42 overall record across the board. Miho Akita has paced the lineup with a stellar 15-3 singles record, while Valentina Curli (11-9) and Evdokiia Volkova (11-6) continue to provide tremendous depth. In paired play, the Lady Tigers have grinded out 32 team doubles victories to consistently set the tone early in duals.

The #4-seeded Lady Tigers will open their postseason run against #5-seed Bethel (Tenn.) (9-9) in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. ET on Friday. This match-up favors Campbellsville on paper, as the Lady Tigers recently handled the Wildcats with a 5-2 victory on April 9 right here at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex. Should Campbellsville advance, a massive semifinal clash awaits against top-seeded Lindsey Wilson (14-1) on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. ET.

On the men's side, #5-seed Campbellsville (11-8, 1-1 MSC) enters the bracket playing its best tennis of the year. The Tigers bring a five-match winning streak into Bowling Green, having dismantled the back half of their April schedule with immense confidence and momentum.

The men have leaned heavily on a robust singles lineup that holds a combined 67-44 record. Alex Martin leads the charge at 12-7, closely followed by Mariano Orsini (11-7), Fabricio Mesia (10-8), and Artur Yakubov (10-3). The Tigers will need that top-to-bottom depth to avenge an early-season setback against their first-round opponent.

Campbellsville opens its tournament against #4-seed Cumberland (Tenn.) (7-12) at 11 a.m. ET on Friday. The Phoenix defeated the Tigers 6-1 on Feb. 28 in Lebanon, Tenn., but Campbellsville has gelled into a drastically different, more cohesive unit since then. If the Tigers can flip the script and secure the upset over the Phoenix, they will advance to face top-seeded and regular-season champion Lindsey Wilson (13-2) in Saturday's 4 p.m. ET semifinal.
