CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. / LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Campbellsville University men's tennis team experienced a weekend of highs and lows, cruising to a flawless 7-0 home victory against Earlham College on Friday before traveling south for a pair of difficult neutral-site and road match-ups at the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational on Saturday.

The weekend began on a high note Friday afternoon at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex. The Tigers controlled the narrative from the first serve against Earlham College, easily securing the doubles point.
Noah Grossmann and
Marco Hoerl picked up a 6-3 win at the No. 1 flight, while the No. 3 tandem of
Alex Martin and
Juan Ochoa matched that 6-3 result to clinch the point.
Transitioning to singles play with a 1-0 lead, the Tigers absolutely overpowered the visitors, sweeping courts one through six in straight sets.
Martin set the pace at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, and Ochoa followed closely with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2. At No. 3 singles,
Artur Yakubov cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 finish.
Elian Walther Jr. handled his business at No. 4, winning 6-2, 6-1, while
Fabricio Mesia (No. 5) and
Mariano Orsini (No. 6) completely shut down their opponents with identical 6-1, 6-0 scorelines to finalize the 7-0 sweep.
On Saturday, the competition ramped up significantly as the Tigers traveled to Lawrenceville, Georgia, for a clash with an undefeated Georgia Gwinnett College roster.
The hosts came out firing, quickly securing the doubles point with 6-1 and 6-2 victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights, respectively. In singles play, the Tigers battled hard against the elite lineup but ultimately fell in straight sets across the board. Martin fought valiantly in his first set at No. 1 before falling 6-4, 6-0, while Ochoa and Mesia both managed to steal games in their respective flights but couldn't shift the momentum in the 7-0 team loss.
With a quick turnaround, Campbellsville returned to the courts Saturday afternoon to face off against #18 Coastal Georgia.
Coastal Georgia grabbed the early momentum by clinching the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, though the Campbellsville pairing of Martin and Ochoa were engaged in a tight 5-4 battle at No. 3 when the point was finalized.
In singles, Coastal Georgia secured victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 to seal the 4-1 overall match result. However, the Tigers showed plenty of fight down the lineup. Walther Jr. was locked in a gritty 7-5, 3-3 battle at No. 3 singles, and Mesia was tied 6-6 in his first set at No. 5 when the match was called.
The bright spot of the afternoon belonged to Orsini at No. 6 singles. He completely dismantled his opponent, earning Campbellsville's lone team point of the contest with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 straight-set victory to cap off his perfect 2-0 weekend in singles play.
