GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Campbellsville Tigers closed out their weekend series against Georgetown College, but came up short as weather delays forced an early conclusion, dropping the weekend series despite an early lead.
- Tate Wischnack powered the Tigers' offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 RBIs, accounting for all of Campbellsville's runs.
- Fernando Serrano added an extra-base hit, finishing 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored to spark the offense early.
- Brady Henke reached base twice at the top of the lineup with a hit and a walk, helping create scoring opportunities.
- Kleysen Gabruck contributed with a hit and a walk, continuing to find ways to get on base.
- The Tigers return to action for a midweek matchup against Brescia University (Ky.) on Tuesday, April 21, in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Campbellsville opened the game with early traffic in the first inning, as
Brady Henke worked a walk and
Antony Gilbert followed with a single, but Georgetown escaped the jam and kept the Tigers off the board.
Georgetown struck first in the bottom half, using a single, a sacrifice bunt, and a Tiger error to bring home an unearned run and take a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers responded in the second inning behind
Fernando Serrano's leadoff double, setting the stage for
Tate Wischnack, who launched a two-run home run to left field to give Campbellsville a 2-1 advantage.
Both teams settled in over the next two innings, with scoreless frames in the third and a missed opportunity for the Tigers in the fourth despite putting two runners in scoring position.
Georgetown broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth. After loading the bases, Elijah Verge delivered the decisive swing of the game with a grand slam to left field, pushing Georgetown in front 5-2.
From there, pitching took over on both sides. The Tigers threatened in the fifth and seventh innings, putting runners on base, but were unable to capitalize. Georgetown's staff held Campbellsville hitless over the final three innings to maintain the lead.
The game was concluded early due to weather delays, with Campbellsville falling to Georgetown 5-2.
