CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Returning to Gosser Gymnasium with a point to prove, the #5 Campbellsville University men's volleyball team handled business with a straight-set sweep (25-16, 25-12, 25-23) over the Midway University Eagles Friday evening. The victory elevates the Tigers to 23-2 overall and 12-2 in conference play, heading into their final home regular-season match.

The opening frame started competitively, with both sides trading side-outs before the Tigers began to pull away. With the score knotted at 11-11, a kill from freshman Lazar Spasovski ignited a dominant 9-2 scoring run for Campbellsville. Setter Alonzo Vega seamlessly distributed the ball, finding freshman middle blocker Camilo Fernandez and Luke Stracener for terminal kills to keep the Eagles out of system. A late kill from freshman Savvas Christou secured the 25-16 victory in set one.

Campbellsville carried its momentum right into the second set, smothering the Eagles early. The Tigers quickly leaped to a commanding 10-3 advantage behind the heavy arm of Fernandez, who was near-perfect in the middle. The Tigers' offense fired on all cylinders, registering a staggering .625 hitting percentage in the second frame. A late service ace by Vega and terminal swings from Stracener slammed the door on Midway, allowing the Tigers to cruise to a lopsided 25-12 set victory.

Determined to avoid a sweep, Midway showed renewed fight in the third set. The Eagles capitalized on a few Campbellsville unforced errors, eventually grabbing a 16-15 lead following a kill by Braden Cacek. The frame devolved into a gritty back-and-forth battle deep into the twenties, with Midway carving out a narrow 21-19 advantage. However, the Tigers refused to panic. A crucial kill from freshman Derek Ocasio shifted the momentum, and Spasovski followed up with clutch swings of his own to tie the frame at 23-23. Down the final stretch, freshman Eduardo Polli hammered home the match-point kill off a feed from Eduardo Viera, sealing the 25-23 comeback and completing the 3-0 sweep.
