CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Kevin Burkhead, a longtime statistician, team manager, and supporter of Campbellsville University Athletics, has been selected for induction into the Campbellsville University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Burkhead will be honored as a member of the 2026 Hall of Fame class Saturday, Oct. 17, during pregame festivities before Fighting Tiger football hosts Cumberland University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET.
A Campbellsville native and 1990 graduate, Burkhead has kept statistics for every Fighting Tiger football team since the program's return in 1987. His work has covered 400 home and road games, concluding with the team's 2026 home-opening 45-14 win over the Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars.
Burkhead began his involvement with Campbellsville Athletics as football's first student manager. He also served as a baseball manager and statistician under coaches Ron Finley and Beauford Sanders, and contributed as a statistician for the Campbellsville men's and women's basketball programs.
His service to athletics continued throughout a career in education and coaching. Burkhead taught for 26 years, primarily in the Nelson County School District, before retiring in August 2022. He moved to Virginia in July 2023 and began teaching again with Fairfax County Public Schools. He currently teaches at West Potomac High School.
Burkhead coached baseball at Nelson County High School from 2004 through 2018 and led the school's golf program from 2004 through 2020. He has served as the golf coach at Alexandria City High School since 2023.
Before that, Burkhead coached youth football and basketball for the Campbellsville Community Club for five seasons. He also spent 16 seasons coaching Campbellsville Babe Ruth baseball and won the 2003 Eastern Kentucky State Championship with Sanders serving as his assistant coach.
Burkhead's induction recognizes nearly four decades of commitment to Campbellsville Athletics, highlighted by his continuous documentation of Fighting Tiger football since the program's inaugural season.
