CU: Smith averaged 11 points per game in his first season at CU in 2010-11. Smith also added 5.8 boards per game to go with his 49 made three pointers. Through CU's first 7 games in 2011-12, Smith is averaging 10.5 points a night and 6.4 rebounds per game.

KENNEDY-KING: During his sophomore year at Kennedy-King College in Chicago, Smith Was the second-leading scorer for the Statesmen in 2009-10, averaging 14.1 points per game. He shot 44.3 percent from the floor and 69.7 percent from the free throw line. He was also second on the team in rebounds, averaging 5.6 per game.

COLUMBUS STATE: After sitting out a year at Southeastern Illinois in 2007-2008, smith scored 23 points in seven games as a member of the Columbus State Community College (Ohio) regional title team.

HIGH SCHOOL: During his senior year at Fairdale High School in Louisville, Smith led the team to a Region 6 title and a state tournament, averaging 13.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. He was a Kentucky All-Star and a Derek Smith All-Star. He was also a wide out for the Fairdale football team.
