Derek joined Campbellsville University in July 2002 as Assistant Athletic Trainer. He was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in July 2004 and named Director of Athletic Training Services in the summer of 2018.
Port was named the NAIA Athletic Trainer of the Year on National Awards Day in 2019. In adition, he was named the MSC Athletic Trainer of the Year for 2014-15 and has earned the Mid-South Conference's Above and Beyond Award for Outstanding Service in Athletic Training three times (2014-15, 2015-16 and 2018-19). In addition to his roles as head athletic trainer at CU, he is also the chair of the Mid-South Conference Athletic Trainers.
In the summer of 2016, Port was voted on as the NAIA-ATA President-Elect, a three-year term. He completed that in the summer of 2019 and moved to role of President. With the role as President, Port will serve a three-year term and will serve as the chairman for the ATA Board of Directors. In addition, he will serve on the National Administrative Council.
His responsibilities will be to implement the mandates and policies of the association, transact all business for and on behalf of the association, preside over association meetings, appoint standing and ad hoc committee chairpersons and/or committee members, and liaisons with approval of the board and serve as the ex-officio member of all committees.
At Campbellsville, Port has made major strides in health and wellness for the student-athletes. A population of 500 athletes and only four athletic trainers in 2013 grew to over 800 student-athletes and eight full-time athletic trainers in the department.
Prior to joining the Tiger Athletic Training Team, Port served as Assistant Athletic Trainer (2001 - 2002) at Central Arizona College in Coolidge, Ariz. He served as Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, in 2002, with the Milwaukee Brewers Professional Baseball Club during Spring Training and the Arizona Rookie League Baseball Season. He has completed an internship in Athletic Training with the Quad City Mallards Professional Hockey Club, an affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the NHL. He has also been employed as a personal fitness trainer for Heartland Personal Trainers in Moline, Ill.
He resides in Campbellsville with his wife Samantha and daughter Adelynn.

Kaitlyn joined the Campbelsville University athletic training staff in August of 2014. She received her bachelor of science in athletic training from Erskine College (S.C.) in May 2012, and then completed her master's of arts in psychology from LeTourneau University (Texas) in May 2014.
While at Erskine, Sanfilippo served as a goalkeeper for four seasons of the inaugural women's lacrosse program and was named all-conference as a senior.
She attended NewSpring Church and also sang in Erskin's gospel choir. During college, she worked three years as a student assistant in the Erskine athletic training room and worked in Anderson, S.C. with Blue Ridge Orthopedics and T.L. Hanna High School (home of Radio). She served as a graduate assistant at LeTourneau in the fall of 2012 before entering a year at Newberry College (S.C.) in 2013-14.

Josh Hawkins enters his 10th year as a Campbellsville University athletic trainer.
Hawkins graduated with a master's degree in sports and recreation from South Dakota State University this past spring. While there he worked as a trainer with the men's wrestling team. Before his time at SDSU, Hawkins received his bachelor's degree in athletic training in 2013 from North Park University.
Before traveling to the United States for college, Hawkins has spent much of his life on the other side of the world, as his parents, Bev and Tom, are missionaries. Hawkins attended Black Forrest High School, which is a boarding school in Germany, and also has spent many years with his parents in Clermont, France.
He speaks fluent French and German.

Maddie is entering her third year as an assistant athletic trainer for Campbellsville University. Dawson is from Sandwich, Illinois and attended Aurora University. She went through a 3+2 Athletic Training program there where she finished my bachelors degree of exercise science in three years and then went on to the Masters in Athletic Training program for 2 years.
Her first clinical rotation was at Aurora University. She worked with the football team during this rotation and worked with the men’s basketball team. Her second rotation was at a very small high school called Newark High School. She only worked with their softball and baseball teams. Over the summer of 2022 she did an internship at a chiropractic and physical therapy clinic. In her second year she did a rotation at Neuqua Valley High School. She worked with fall sports which included football, women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, tennis, swim and dive team, and cross country.
Dawson competed in track and field at Aurora University. Her main events were the 400 meter and the 4x400 meter relay. Her team won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship, while she earned bronze for the 400m, and her 4x4 team earned the silver medal.

Lauren McKenney joined the Campbellsville University athletic training department in July 2024. Her sports coverage includes football and softball.
McKenney’s clinical experience includes Rice University football in Houston, Stonehill College with football and track & field, and Regis College with softball and men’s volleyball. During her time at Rice University, she was able to gain additional experience at the 2023 First Responder Bowl Game.
She graduated from Merrimack College with a Bachelor's Degree in exercise science in December 2022. She recently earned her Masters of Science in Athletic Training from Merrimack in May 2024.
