For the first time in his career, Campbellsville
Bradley Bates was named the Mid-South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, officials announced on Monday.
Bates, a junior from local Campbellsville High School, recorded 15 points for Campbellsville in a 69-51 loss to Faulkner this past weekend.
Bates went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, highlighted by a new career-high 42-yard field goal. In addition, Bates was also perfect on all six PATs.
On the season, Bates has shined as the Tigers' place kicker and kickoff specialist. He currently leads the NAIA in scoring per game for a kicker (9.2 points) and is No. 2 in three categories – total field goals (8), field goals per game (1.6) and total scoring as a kicker (46 points).
Campbellsville will have a week off to prepare for its homecoming matchup against No. 23 Bethel University on Saturday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
In addition to Bates, Faulkner's Clayton Nicholas earned Offensive Player of the Week honors while Cumberland University's Justus Dauscha was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
