BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Campbellsville's
Alexandra Castillo earn Mid-South Conference Women's Wrestler of the Week honors, officials announced on Monday.
Castillo, wrestling at 191lbs., is a freshman from Areita, Calif. and earns her first weekly award of her career.
She continued her hot start to her career after going 4-0 this past weekend at the University of the Cumberlands Patriot Duals.
Castillo led the Lady Tigers with a 4-0 record as she pinned Yalitza Ramos in just 33 seconds to close out the dual against Emmanuel. Against Cumberlands, Castillo defeated No. 6 Jesse Kirby, 9-2.
In the final two matches of her tournament, Castillo won a close bout over fourth-ranked Stephanie Pantoja of Life University, 3-2, and took down Mia Leon with a pin in 38 seconds.
On the season, Castillo is 5-0 in duals and has a 3-1 open record.
Campbellsville (3-2, 2-1 MSC) went 3-1 on Saturday with a 44-3 domination over No. 16 Lindenwood-Belleville to earn its first Mid-South Conference win of the year, before earning a revenge win over No. 7 University of the Cumberlands, 27-18. The final two duals of the day were a 26-20 win over No. 5 Life University and a conference loss to Emmanuel College, 29-15.
The Lady Tigers open their home portion of the schedule on Saturday as CU hosts Life University at 4 p.m. ET.
