CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – For the second-straight week,
Andrew Smith was voted as the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Smith recorded a pair of double-doubles for Campbellsville as the Tigers stretched their winning streak to nine games.
The junior averaged 16 points and 12.5 rebounds for Campbellsville as it defeated Taylor University – ranked No. 24 in NAIA Division II – and Toccoa Falls College at the Lindsey Wilson College Classic.
In the Tigers' 86-69 victory over Taylor, Smith compiled 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. He also recorded a pair of blocks, while chipping in with an assist and a steal. He made 7-of-11 shots from the floor and knocked down one of his three three-pointers.
To cap off the week, Smith recorded 17 points and completed his fourth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. The native of Johnson City, Tennessee also tied his career high with three assists and went 8-for-10 from the field.
Smith ended the week shooting 71.4 percent from the field and moved his season average in points per game to 14 and he leads the Tigers with 8.6 rebounds a game. He also ranks seventh in the nation with 121 rebounds and 23 blocks.
This is Smith's second-straight weekly honor of the season and second of his career.
Campbellsville returns to action on Friday, Dec. 29 against Stillman College at the University of the Cumberlands Classic.
