CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – For the fourth time this season,
Andrew Smith was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Smith is the only player to earn the weekly award four times this season, as this is also his fourth career weekly accolade.
During the final week of the regular season, Smith averaged 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Tigers to a pair of MSC wins. With the two wins, Campbellsville climbed up to fifth in the MSC standings and is the fifth seed in the conference tournament.
To start the week, the junior scored 20 points and matched his career high with 15 rebounds against Cumberland University in a 97-71 victory.
Against No. 9 Lindsey Wilson College in the Battle of Highway 55, Smith set a new personal best with 17 rebounds and he capped off his seventh double-double of the season with 18 rebounds. Smith also set a new career high with five assists, while chipping in with a pair of blocks and a steal.
Over the final three games of the regular season, Smith has average 23.6 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game heading into the postseason.
On the season, Smith leads the Tigers with 14.5 points per game and his seven double-doubles are tied for second in the MSC. Nationally, the Johnson City, Tennessee native ranks ninth in the nation with 46 blocks. He is also 13th in total rebounds (249), 15th in rebounds per game (8.3), 16th in block shots per game (1.5) and 16th in field goal percentage (57.6).
Campbellsville returns to action Friday afternoon at noon ET against No. 21 Life University in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament at the East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville, Ky.
