CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – For the second time this season,
Alejandro Reyes was named the Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Reyes posted six wins for the Tigers this past week as Campbellsville went 4-0 as a team including a pair of Mid-South Conference victories.
To start the week against NCAA Division II Lake Superior State University, the sophomore picked up an 8-2 win over Ieuan Lister and Diego Penz at No. 1 doubles with his partner
Chrys Castro. In singles competition against the Lakers, he won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, against Jake Prime.
Reyes then earned two more victories in a dual against No. 17 Asbury University. He first grabbed an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against 23rd-ranked Joshua Turnquest and Choopat Suvimolstean. Reyes also beat Suvimolstean at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Competing at No. 1 doubles against Shawnee State University, Reyes and Castro rolled to an 8-0 victory against Caspar Nolte and Matthew Bryant.
Rounding out the week, Reyes went a perfect 4-0 in doubles competition after he and Castro beat University of Pikeville's Bailey Horne and Andres Alvarez, 8-6. Reyes also posted a 3-0 mark in singles action without dropping a set after taking down Alvarez, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Campbellsville is now 8-0 this season and 2-0 in MSC action, while Reyes holds a record of 6-0 in singles competition and 7-0 in doubles.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday afternoon against No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia at 1 p.m. ET.
