CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – For the second time this season,
Kaede Amano was selected as the Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Amano first earned the award on February 26 and this week's award is her fourth career weekly honor.
This past week Amano earned two more victories as she helped No. 17 Campbellsville post a narrow 5-4 decision over No. 20 Cumberland University.
Starting the dual at No. 1 doubles, Amano and her partner
Majella Nobile grabbed an 8-2 victory over Ainhoa Garijo Garrido and Marianela Landi.
Shifting over to the top-seeded singles match, Amano – ranked 24th in the NAIA – had a top-25 contest against Garijo Garrido – who is ranked 10th in the NAIA. Amano defeated Garijo Garrido in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) to earn the victory over a top 10 opponent.
On the season, Amano is now 9-1 in singles competition and 9-1 in doubles action. All 10 of Amano's matches in singles and doubles have come at the top flight in dual matchups. The Lady Tigers also move to 9-1 overall this season and 3-0 in the Mid-South Conference.
Next up, Campbellsville hosts No. 7 University of Northwestern Ohio at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex on Tuesday in a top-20 contest.
