CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — For the first time in her career, sophomore
Alexis Smith was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week, officials announced on Monday.
Smith, from Louisville, Ky., led the Lady Tigers to a 3-1 week after earning a trio of wins at Cumberland University.
In the conference series, Smith reached base in 11-of-14 plate appearances and hit .500 (4-for-8) in four games.
She opened the week with three home runs against the Phoenix and drove in seven runs in game one.
In the next three games, Cumberland decided to stay away and not let Smith beat them. She drew six walks and drove in one more run with a sacrifice fly.
Smith's eight home runs rank her No. 14 in the NAIA and first in the MSC. She is also tied for the conference lead with 35 RBIs.
The fourth-ranked Lady Tigers are scheduled to host No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett on Wednesday, April 1. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Veterans Memorial Park.
