BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — For the second time in his career, Campbellsville's Bjay Pelt was named the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, officials announced on Monday afternoon.
Pelt, from Phoenix, Ariz., finished with five tackles and two interceptions in the Tigers' 30-29 win over Point University on Saturday. Both of his interceptions stopped key drives for the Skyhawks, including an interception in the end zone.
In addition, Point mishandled an extra point and Pelt's hustle was crucial in the Tigers returning it for a two-point conversion that sparked the comeback victory. Pelt dove after the ball to knock it away from the kicker and
Darius Moore scooped and ran 98 yards for the conversion.
Overall, Pelt is tied for second in the MSC and fifth in the NAIA with three interceptions this season.
The Tigers are now 1-3 after picking up their first win of the season last weekend. CU looks to carry that momentum into Saturday as the Tigers travel to Kentucky Christian University for a 1:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
