GREENVILLE, S.C. – For the second time this month, CU's
Joudiel Poveymirow earned an NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week recognition, NCCAA officials announced Monday afternoon.
The sophomore libero had more of an all-around week for the Tigers, moving to an outside hitter role against Cincinnati Christian University last Monday before returning to his regular defensive role against Bluefield College.
Campbellsville won each of those matches in 3-0 sweeps with Poveymirow leading key categories with double-digit performances, in kills and digs.
Against the Eagles of CCU, Poveymirow led the team with 10 kills for his second 10-kill performance of the season. In Wednesday's match against the Rams of Bluefield, Poveymirow recorded a match-high 16 digs to help limit BC to only 21 kills in the match.
The Orlando, Fla. native is the leader on the Tigers' roster in digs on the season at 276 over 77 sets played for a 3.58 digs per set average. Poveymirow also has 47 assists on the season, which is the third highest total on the team.
The CU men's volleyball team will be back in action at the Gosser Gymnasium for their finals home match this Tuesday against Cumberland. The Tigers will finish out the final week of their regular season with four matches away from Campbellsville starting on Thursday.
