For the second time this season, both
Neely Quint and
Tori Humphrey were named the Mid-South Conference Players of the Week, officials announced on Monday.
The honor is the second of Humphrey's career and sixth for Quint.
The Lady Tigers swept their competition last week, winning all six games – two over Union College and four over Shawnee State. Quint picked up three wins in the circle and finished the week with a 2.19 ERA, striking out 10 batters.
To cap off the week, Quint pitched a pair of one-hit shutouts over Shawnee State University. In game two of the series vs. the Bears, Quint allowed a leadoff single to start the first inning but kept the Bears off the base paths the rest of the way, winning 8-0. In the series finale, Quint allowed a two-out hit in the fifth inning before shutting the Bears down in a 10-0 victory.
For Humphrey, she was once again dominant at the plate. She hit two home runs and had seven RBI in her six games, while recording a slugging percentage of .1000.
In the first game of the Lady Tigers four-game set at Shawnee State, Humphrey went 3-for-4 with two homes and four RBI. She also recorded three of her eight total runs last week in CU's 11-2 win.
Humphrey is currently on a seven-game win streak and leads CU with five home runs is second with 17 RBI.
The Lady Tigers will now host Cumberland University for another Mid-South Conference series on Tuesday, March 21. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET at Veterans Memorial Park.
