CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball teams were announced on Thursday and a pair of Lady Tigers were mentioned.

Brianna Scott earns the honor for the second straight season and was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2016, while Brittany Rippy earns the award for the first time in her career.

The award is voted upon by members of the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from the NAIA. It is designed to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Each nominee has to at least record a GPA of 3.30 or higher and be a key contributor to the team.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees will now move on to be voted for CoSIDA Academic All-America® status, which will be released later in May.

Campbellsville competes in District Two and 11 student-athletes earned the honor for the College Division. Rippy was one of four infielders, while Scott was one of three outfielders selected.

Scott, a junior from Greensburg, Ky., is hitting .317 on the season with five home runs and 36 RBIs. She has started in all 50 games in right field and also boasts a .957 fielding percentage with only two errors in 47 chances. Her five home runs are fourth on the team with her 36 RBI ranks third.

Scott is majoring in secondary education with an emphasis in math and she boasts a 3.93 GPA (not including spring semester).

Rippy, a senior from Scottsville, Ky., has battled back from an ACL injury her sophomore season and is finally 100 percent healthy. This season, Rippy is hitting .348 and has also started in all 50 games at second base. Defensively, Rippy has a .955 fielding percentage and has turned 10 double plays with shortstop Jacqueline Roof.

Rippy is majoring in communications and carries a 3.66 GPA. She is graduating next week, Saturday, May 13th.

The 10th-ranked Lady Tigers will now wait until May 15 for the NAIA Opening Round, which CU is hosting in cooperation with the Bowling Green Visitors and Convention Bureau at Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green, Ky.
